This is a unique smoothie recipe that I learned from a college friend. Granted, when I first saw the drink, I was reluctant to put it anywhere near my body — let alone my mouth. It didn’t sound good and it didn’t look good; however, it was quite delicious and healthy.
Because it tastes great and is full of nutrients, I am passing the recipe on to you. The pineapple smoothie is high in: B vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, calcium, magnesium and potassium. It’s also rich in antioxidants.
To make your own smoothie, use the following ingredients:
1 cup of pineapple juice or raw pineapple
1 cup or handful of raw spinach or chard
1 small handful of fresh parsley
Optional ingredients:
1 scoop of protein powder
-or-
1 raw egg (add at the very end and blend minimally)
Put the ingredients and some ice in a blender. Blend until smooth.
Something to keep in mind: Oxalate, an acid found in raw spinach and Swiss chard, has been associated with kidney stones. If you have a family history of kidney stones or a tendency toward developing the condition yourself, this may not be a good smoothie for you.
Enjoy! Let me know what you think.
