Here are some tips for keeping your cool and staying balanced in the season of the Fire Element...

By: Upasana Giglia, MS, RYT and Ayurvedic Consultant

Many of us were thrown a bit off balance, experiencing some irritability, inflammation, fatigue, reactive skin issues, heartburn and/or loose stools, perhaps some nausea.  These are all signs of increased “pitta dosha” in the body & mind.

The Ayurvedic concept of “rutucharya” or “seasonal routine” gives us very effective tools to keep the fire element balanced and stay healthy, happy, and cool during the summer months.  Here are a few tips:

The Key to Aging Gracefully

Recently one of our patients told us a story about going to see his doctor about knee pain.  He didn’t have any history of knee pain and now his right knee ached daily.  After a brief visit, his doctor told him it must be that he’s just getting older.  Confused by this, he asked the question, “Then why doesn’t my left knee hurt?  It’s the same age as my right knee!”  His doctor didn’t have an answer, so he decided to come see us.

We see a wide range of people at our office and the differences amongst them can be striking; some patients in their 70’s struggle with walking around the block, while others tell us about their daily runs.  So what’s the difference?  Why are some of our older patients able to be so much more active?

Our fantastic neighbors at Lifeforce Fitness Project are getting ready for a summer of fun and we wanted to share this opportunity with you.

Summer is here!  With temperatures rising and schools releasing, you may be wondering what you will do with your kid's free time and energy.  This camp is a great way to get them active and outside rather than on their phones, iPads, and video games.

They'll have a chance to participate in many sports and activities, learn about nutrition and health, and practice safe ways to stay fit.  It's never too early to start learning about health and wellness!

They have four different camp dates with full & half day options, so there's something to fit everyone's schedule.  Visit their website here to see all the information and find out how to sign up.

After reading what they had to say, we're kind of wishing we were kids again because this is going to be fun!
