New Year's Eve tends to get all the glory - the celebrations, the countdown, the fireworks... but, if you're looking forward to having a great new year, New Year's Day can be important for setting your intentions and/or beginning your resolutions.
The holidays are over, so now you can direct your energy and attention to looking ahead. Resolutions or not, here's a few ideas to make the first day of 2016 inspiring and impactful.
- Spend some time writing. Write down your goals, hopes, and dreams. This can be for the whole new year, for a month or two, or for the next 5 years. Choose a time frame that works best for you and make an effort to consciously move forward in the direction you choose. Knowing your direction makes it easier to break down into the little steps needed to get there.
- Make an extra-healthy meal. Big meals are common during the holiday festivities. Try starting the new year cooking up a meal that feels extra-healthy for you, whether that's a vegetarian meal, fresh local seafood, or a dish that fits your dosha. Whatever you choose, think of it as setting an example for yourself for the rest of the year.
- Do something nurturing for yourself. In the busy-ness of the season, we can easily forget to take proper care of ourselves, or we overlook our needs trying to do so many things for others. Reset your energy for the new year, by doing self-care activities such as taking a bath, reading a favorite book, or listening to your favorite music.
