Have you ever "held" the phone by squeezing your shoulder up to your ear? It may seem like an insignificant action, but if you're doing so repetitively, your neck and shoulder muscles are working overtime to hold that phone in place and could lead to chronic tension.
When you type, are your elbows at a 90° angle and your wrists even? If not, the repetitive motion could lead to tensed or strained muscles, and in some cases, carpal tunnel syndrome.
These are just a couple examples of how the set up of your technological devices can impact your body. But the impact doesn't have to be negative. When properly set up, you can create a work space that is skillful for your body and may even make you more productive. The image below gives a brief review of how to ergonomically set up your desk.

Workplace ergonomics are becoming increasingly popular with employers, as they understand that your health is important to productivity and success. Many larger companies have someone on staff or work with companies who focus specifically on improving ergonomics.
Check with your company to see if there is someone who can help you get your work space set up properly for you. If not, there are free resources online, such as the Ergotron website, which can create calculations based on your height and if you're using a sitting and/or standing desk. There are also local companies, such as Worksite Solutions, who can help get you set up properly.
