Exercise Therapist/Integrative Movement Specialist, LMT

What's in it for your clients.
Through the use of light touch and simple movement techniques, I help my clients develop new strategies for movement. I teach them to focus on overall body awareness, ease of motion and breath, and better coordination. I bring sensitivity and awareness in order to reconnect you to your body.

Why do clients come to you?
The body is consistently changing throughout our lives, with weight loss or gain, injury, etc. When changes to the body occur, we often don't take the necessary steps towards  properly treating the new issues that arise; rather, we simply continue using our old strategies for the new problems. This is where I come in. I help you develop the movement patterns that best suit you, and re-train the body on how to move properly.

How do you assess clients?
I watch people's strategies in movement and postural alignment to check the muscle tone and alignment of bones.
I look for:
-If the body is more rigid, lose, or a combination of both.
-How centered the joints are, and if they're able to move freely in their sockets.
-Does frustration arise when the body is requested to move, or does it move with ease and grace.
-How many, and which, movement strategies you're using regularly.
-Are you as effective as you want to be?

What unique skills and gifts distinguish you?  How would you describe your style?
I am passionate about equipping people with the strategies that help them find freedom and mobility. I excel at helping people connect with their body and find stability and ease in movement. My "secret sauce" is my intuition and ability to create better communication throughout the muscles and body, equipping people to move with awareness and to work through issues that inhibit them.

Tell us about your primary training and any  continuing education you have done.
I completed my training under Dr. Evan Oscar as an Integrative Movement Specialist. During my time, Dr. Oscar subsequently invited me into an internship and employment at his practice as his sole chiropractic assistant and an integrated movement specialist. Prior to that, I completed Licensed Massage Therapist education at the Soma Institute in Chicago in Clinical Massage Therapy.

Share a little about your personal journey as a healing practitioner.  What life experiences have enriched or changed your work?
Due to my own experiences with misunderstood visual-perception issues, I know first-hand what it's like to have diagnoses that don't actually capture enough to be helpful. When people don't know where to focus, pain in an injured area can feel like it's all over. I direct focus to anatomical leverage points and crucial phases in movement. This allows my clients to discover the importance of paying attention to the proper areas, and then applying strategies they can rely on.

Personal Invitation
If you want to be able to move more freely and efficiently, let's meet.
If you've been dealing with chronic pain and have been tempted to give up, let's meet.
If you believe you have more to offer the world, but are inhibited by illness or pain, let's meet.
Movement is a central part of everything we do as human beings; therefore, improving movement will not only net the gains you expect, it can also facilitate the attainment of your avowed dreams.
