I knew I wanted to be a chiropractor from the age of 17. I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic, in Davenport Iowa, in 1994 (the day after my 24th birthday) with a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree. Shortly after graduation I moved to Park city, Utah where I opened my first practice, met my wife (Wendy), and had my first and only child (Stella). In 2001 we moved to Eugene Oregon where I began working at the Chiropractic Healing Center. I worked at CHC until September 2007 when I opened A Healing Space.
For me chiropractic is a way of life more than a job. It's about taking care of my body, staying in alignment, eating well, and living naturally. I'm the type of person who gets bored if I'm not learning new things. I'm always searching for ways to get my patients better faster, or to reach the few patients that are not helped with what I already know. However, having been doing chiropractic for over 14 years, and already possessing good technical chiropractic skills, I do not believe that a different type of adjustment or new adjusting technique is going to achieve those goals. For this reason my continuing education has been more and more in the direction of learning about and caring for the emotional, energetic, mental, and spiritual side of people.
Of the many techniques and modalities that I've studied the ones that I have integrated in my practice because of the tremendous results they get are Pranic Healing and EFT. What I do is quite varied; for some patients, all I do is adjust, for some all I do is energy work, and for others I do a combination of these things with nutrition, stretching, or lifestyle modification advice, etc. And of course for others who need something else I refer them to the other talented healthcare practitioners I have surrounded myself with.
As for adjusting, my techniques range from the traditional chiropractic adjustment done by hand, to drop table adjustments (also known as the Thomson technique), or the very light and gentle style of Activator adjusting. |
