What Chiropractors Do
Chiropractors understand that good health depends, in part, upon a normally functioning nervous system. When the bones of the spine go out of alignment they can put pressure on spinal nerves resulting in compromised nerve flow. We chiropractors use the term “subluxation” to describe this misalignment. Interruption of nerve flow can eventually lead to pain, disability, and an overall decrease in the quality of life.
While many people think of chiropractors as bone or back doctors we are actually concerned with the nervous system. The nervous system is main control and communication system of the body. Chiropractors have found that removal of nerve interference produces significant and lasting health benefits.
Chiropractors do not use of drugs or surgery. By locating and adjusting these spinal misalignments chiropractors venture to restore normal nerve expression, which often times leads to symptom relief and improved health.
The time-honored methods of consultation, case history, physical examination, laboratory analysis and x-ray examination are used by chiropractors. However, chiropractors also provide a careful structural examination, paying particular attention to the spine.
While chiropractors do not drugs or surgery, doctors of chiropractic do refer patients for medical care when those interventions are indicated.
